PIL associate awarded prestigious IChemE Moulton Medal

One of our most recent recruits, Dr Kok Siew Ng, was recently awarded a ‘best paper’ prize by the Institute of Chemical Engineering (IChemE) in London, UK – the ICHemE’s Junior Moulton medal for 2011.

Dr Ng’s paper was written under the auspices of the University of Manchester (shortly before he joined PIL) in collaboration with Dr Jhuma Sadhukhan of the University of Surrey (and co-authored with Ms Y Lopez and Dr G M Campbell). It was published in ‘Chemical Engineering Research and Design’ as far back as February 2010 though the prize itself was not awarded until early 2012.

Entitled “Heat integration and analysis of decarbonised Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) sites”, the study explored means of maximising the combined heat and power (CHP) efficiencies possible at IGCC sites, especially as are possible in combination with the added complication of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) methodologies.

The paper is available via ScienceDirect’s online portal here (pay-for-view content)
